15 years ago was a wonderful WILD SURREAL NYC night starting at the After Party for Tim Burton’s MOMA Retrospective, and ending at his AFTER AFTER PARTY with only about a dozen of us, including Johnny Depp & Patty Smith.

16 years ago, I created this land of CHOUCHOUS, who could take away your FEAR & HATE by oozing their LOVE out of their bellybuttons.
BUT the DEMONS overran and ruled the forest through CHAOS.

Today is the 10th Anniversary of my collaboration

Today is the 10th Anniversary of
my collaboration with Shepard Fairey @obeygiant , featuring my father, Ben Baseman – a Jewish freedom fighter who fought in the woods of Poland for over three years during World War II.
With what has been happening, I feel premonitions of history about to repeat itself.

My dad and mom, Ben & Naomi Baseman, survived the mass murders that took place in 1941-42 in cities across Eastern Europe, including their hometowns of Berezne & Kostopol, from aggressive authoritative countries. Unfortunately, my folks lost both their sets of parents, many loved ones, all their possessions and homes. They somehow both survived the Holocaust and immigrated to first Canada then the US to what was once the “American Dream.” Ben lived to the age of 93, and Naomi lived till 91, married for 63 years, raising four children in the Fairfax district of Los Angeles.
I’m still so proud of this print with Shepard, celebrating my family story!

We must never let hate rear its ugly head and attack the innocent out of fear again!

I just returned from a couple months of travel, home for the election.

A decade ago Emmanuel Hare Ray came to me. He wears a blindfold, unable to bear what is before him. Named after the artist Man Ray, he seeks vision to make sense of the world we live in.

Right now, I’m taking a moment alone to hear the buzz of silence. Imagining in the dark a better future of light, hope, and goodness.
