I can’t believe it’s been exactly 6 years since we shot this in a graveyard in Wellington, New Zealand.

This trip to Aotearoa is different but as inspiring, if not more so in a new special way! I hope to share one day soon!

A CHATEAU MARMONT Residency!
One year ago today, I had the most wonderful long weekend drawing and playing with Bosko as we hunted spirits of Hollywood past and present.
First early morning, I look up from my drawing and I see John Waters across from me. So I grabbed a fresh stationary and tried to capture his presence in real time.
Bosko loved wandering the grounds.
This wasn’t a stay-cation. I was determined to draw as much as I could to capture the Chateau energy.

TOBY x MICHELANGELO!
Today marks the BIG 20th ANNIVERSARY of this important TOBY PHOTO, where I snuck Toby into the Sistine Chapel, snapped the photo, and the same day Pope John Paul II dropped dead and descended to Heaven.

Coincidence. Maybe.

This photo inspired me to begin my art project of shooting photos & videos of Toby around the world for the past 20 years. Today I have tens of thousands of Toby Travels photos. If you swipe, You can see a photo of us on that faithful day, and when I snuck Toby back into the Sistine Chapel ten years later in 2015 to reenact the original event.

Today is the 19th anniversary of the day I met BLA

Today is the 19th anniversary of the day I met BLACKIE THE CAT!

💥Blackie the Cat was my neighbor’s outdoor cat. He was the unofficial Mayor of the block. He would hang out in the front the house greeting anyone who passed by, human or dog. The moment I moved in on March 28th, 2006, he greeted me. He eventually weaseled his way into my place; hung out, got me to feed him and would sleep on my bed at night. 8 months after our first meeting, my neighbor said they were moving and Blackie needed a home. I thought to myself: He’s already my cat. The rest is history.

Blackie was my best friend, inspiration, collaborator, guru, and badass. He inspired some of my most important characters like ChouChou, Ahwroo, and, of course, my self-portrait as Blackie the Cat.
We created together the art installation, the Purr Room, and the plush sculpture of Blackie the Cat, and the art Instagram series, The Blackie the Cat Show, Starring Blackie the Cat and his Boy Gary. His spirit brought Bosko into my life to take care of me, until his untimely passing. Now, both their spirits are working together to direct my next chapter of my life.
