One year ago today, BOSKO and I were taking a walk and got caught in a rain storm.

We turned it into a wonderful memory and song!

When I found BOSKO’S LIFELESS BODY.

I was compelled to draw the moment right after I found Bosko dead on the bed, when I rushed out to the street holding him in my arms, looking to find my car, when a neighbor I didn’t know stopped me and asked if I needed help.

I wasn’t sure if I should share this.
I was shattered when I found him, trying to give him CPR, trying to blow air in his lungs to bring him back to life.

The next weeks I struggled to draw at all to either try to understand why his young life was taken away from me or to try to celebrate our special connection.

10 years ago today, we created
The Secret Order of the Camellias, a site-specific art installation and performative space at the Serpentine Gallery in London. This art installation celebrated my collaboration with Coach. Showcasing the wild beast characters that protect secrets and represent loyalty and friendship, guests were welcomed to join a special rite of passage into the Secret Order by offering their deepest darkest dreams at the Shrine of Buster Le Fauve.
My assistants blindfolded everyone who entered the shrine. They were instructed to release their written darkened dream onto the shrine. And I personally put a metal of Emmanuel Hare Ray around everyone’s neck. And each guest also took home a photo of themselves blindfolded in front of the shrine.

Remembering my father, Ben Baseman, on the 15th anniversary of his passing.
Of course, I think about him everyday.
15 years feels like a lifetime ago, yet his presence and my mom’s are with me everyday.
He lived an extraordinary life.
He lived through one of the most horrific events of mankind, survived, and thrived, raised a family and taught his children to be thoughtful, good, hard working people and not to limit their dreams.

We live in uncertain times, with the fear that similar authoritarian monsters who destroyed my parent’s homeland, are again raising their ugly heads.
We are still determined to complete our documentary, Mystical Creatures, about my father and mother’s life and tell their remarkable story.

Thank you, Dad. I always miss you.
