Third Street Elementary School Centennial

Gary Baseman celebrates the centennial of his alma matter Third Street Elementary School! Creating the poster image for this special year (just like what he did for its 80th anniversary), Baseman also returned to campus on October 8 to speak to students about the power of imagination and creativity.

Check out coverage of Baseman at Third Street at local media outlets The Larchmont Buzz HERE and Beverly Press HERE

The centennial celebration will continue as a Block Party November 3, 2024, 11am-3pm. Open to all. Info HERE

Third Street is where young Baseman blossomed, inspired by meeting and hearing the legend and one of the original Warner Bros. animation directors Bob Clampett, who directed Baseman’s favorite animated short Porky in Wackyland. Gary was classmates with Clampett’s daughter Ruth.

After Baseman’s talk, students lined up to get something–anything–autographed by him. Fun times at school!

Baseman shows himself as a child and his assignment in which he states: “Gary Baseman is smart. He goes to Third Street School. He draws Snoopy like this… He’s 8 years old.”
