Remembering The Garden of Unearthly Delights

On this day, September 10, 2005 the exhibition The Garden of Unearthly Delights by Gary Baseman opened at the Jonathan LeVine Gallery in New York.

Inspired by The Garden of Earthly Delights Triptych, by 16th-century artist Hieronymous Bosch, Baseman created a body of work that depicts a fantastically surreal world delving deeper into the principle of pleasure. Through paintings, drawings and, mixed media, Baseman introduces us to little demons and devils that act out their most suppressed impulses. One such devil is HotChaChaCha, a creature with three legs that steals angels’ haloes.

Bring your inner devil home and get your limited edition poster to commemorate this show, available here!
