Happy Year of the Tiger!
Joining in the celebration of the New Lunar Year, Gary Baseman created this “Year of the Tiger” drawing, featuring little Bosko joining the joyful, strong and brave tiger in the yearly festivity that welcomes a new beginning, marking the end of winter and the start of spring–a holiday celebrated in many East Asian and Southeast Asian countries and communities.
According to the Chinese Zodiac cycle, each year is associated with one of 12 animal signs, a system that has existed for more than 3,000 years. According to Laura Lau, co-author of The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes, different characteristics are assigned to each animal and “people born in the Year of the Tiger tend to be powerful, rebellious, dynamic, adventurous, fiery, impulsive and unpredictable.”
A time of celebration, hope and focusing on the positive, Baseman and Bosko welcome the year of the Tiger.
