Losing Bosko has been shattering.
It took me a week just to create this one particular drawing in my sketchbook.

When Blackie the Cat passed, he was 18 years old and a sage/wise soul, so I looked to the Renaissance & the Ascension as inspiration.
Bosko was only 4 years old and youthful, all I could imagine as reference was Victorian child death.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with your love and kind words.

With the heaviest heart, I share the sad news that my best friend and muse Bosko Baseman passed away on Friday the 13th, December 2024.

Bosko’s lil heart stopped beating the afternoon following his usual morning play ritual of “Halo”-fetching. I found his lifeless body when I returned home from my morning hike. A neighbor and I rushed him to the vet, but he could not be resuscitated. Bosko died from an undiagnosed health condition. His death was sudden and unexpected.

It has taken me several weeks to announce this news. Mourning the passing of Bosko has been so difficult, so please forgive my delay in sharing.

Bosko came into my life at a time when he soothed the pain of the loss of my Blackie the Cat. I never thought another cat could match how special Blackie was. Yet with Bosko’s own unique qualities, his love was just as perfect and pure.

Bosko earned the title “The World’s Greatest Flying Cat” through his magnificent physical agility of jumping on my shoulders every day.

Bosko also had a gift of focus and could assume multiple, distinct roles. He shared his own obsession with Donuts, modeling with different flavors. He fetched “haloes” like a professional catcher. He was an acrobat who balanced himself on my shoulder on jogs down the sidewalk or on long walks up the hill.

Bosko’s pure little-big heart and spirit of play, risk-taking and mischief inspired me every day and will continue to do so.

I am grateful for the 4 years I was able to spend with him. Although I had hoped I would have grown old with my special friend.

A memorial will be planned and announced sometime in the future.

Like Blackie the Cat, Bosko was a feline given a second chance. Bosko started his life as an orphan. He was fostered for some time before he joined me in January 2021. Please consider donating to or adopting a pet from your local animal shelter.

You have no idea how excited I was when Coach’s Creative Director, Stuart Vevers and Head of Ready to Wear, Keith Warren, first showed me the finished Sweaters! All I could think was they were works of art! And when Collette offered to give me an exhibition, I had a 5 foot giant sweater made to hang on the wall as a Work of Art.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day.
After October 7 and the start of 2025, this day takes on a deeper meaning, which boggles my mind .
Today we give remembrance to the six million Jews, including all my four grandparents, who were murdered by the Nazis and their sympathizers.
Both my parents were survivors, losing everything from their parents, homes, and all their possessions, but they found each other and a new life and home in America.
I remember them and their love everyday, and am still working on a special documentary to celebrate their lives.

Blackie the Cat (2003-2020) was my longtime creative collaborator and feline companion. Blackie the Cat co-created The Purr Room, a sound bath installation that features his triple purr, that took place in the USA, Uk, and China. Even though Blackie could be a feisty cat, he was a big advocate of Love & Peace!

Two Weeks Ago Today.
January 8, 2025

I was very adventurous the morning after the great fires, and was compelled to climb the top of Griffith Park to see the Deep Apocalyptic RED SUN RISE!
Crazy winds and downed trees.
It felt surreal.
I know everyone now will say wear a mask, but the first morning I didn’t think about it. All I thought was I needed to see what happened to my birth city for myself.
My heart goes out to all the families who were affected by the fires. So much loss.
Let’s help those in need and please be safe.

The beginning of 2025 has already left everyone with so much emotion.
I’m thinking about Los Angeles, the home that I love, and all the terrible loss from the fires; David Lynch, who has been such an immense creative inspiration to our generation; and another great loss I haven’t shared yet publicly.

I originally created this drawing when I was losing my muse and soulmate, Blackie the Cat. I felt it appropriate to share this morning.
