“The Blackout”-featuring Gary Baseman’s latest video at Bryant Park 1/29-2/1
Produced by the creative members of Six01 Studio, “The Blackout” features five short films playing simultaneously through window frames, providing a look into the private lives of extraordinary New York apartments and their inhabitants. The installation depicts New York archetypes: The Businessman, The Fashion Designer, The Artist, The Teenage Girl and The Super. The style and tone of each film is as unique and diverse as the people in the city it represents. The installation celebrates New Yorkers as they find connections in small daily encounters. The piece climaxes in a blackout where our main characters find solace in a city without power.
Watch “The Teenage Girl” (co-directed by Gary Baseman and David Charles) through her bedroom window as her imagination runs wild, bringing to life familiar Baseman characters such as ChouChou, Ahwroo, Veritas, and the Wild Girls.
Starting at 2pm there will be an hour of different programming celebrating The Arts in NYC. The short films play at the end of the hour. The last screening of the day will happen at roughly 5:50 pm.
It’s open to the public. You just have to show up at Bryant Park!
The dates are 1/29, 1/30 and 2/1/14
